The Word (Spoken Word)

“If there are words for Him, then I don’t have them.

See my brain has not yet reached the point where it could form a thought that could adequately describe the greatness of my God.

And my lungs have not yet developed the ability to release a breath with enough agility to breathe out the greatness of His Love.

And my voice…
See my voice is so inhibited,
restrained by human limits that it’s hard to even sing the praise up,
you see, if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them.

My God,
His Grace is remarkable,
mercies are innumerable,
strength is impenetrable,
He is honorable, accountable, favorable.

He’s unsearchable yet knowable,
indefinable yet approachable,
indescribable yet personal.

He is beyond comprehension,
further than imagination,
constant through generations,
King of every nation,
but if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them

You see my words are few to try and capture the ONE TRUE GOD.
Using my vocabulary will never do.
But I use words as an expression,
An expression of worship to a Savior.
A Savior who is both worthy and deserving of my praise,
So I use words.

My heart extols the Lord, blesses His Name forever.
He has won my heart,
captured my mind,
and has bound them both together.

He has defeated me in my rebellion,
conquered me in my sin.
He has welcomed me into His presence,
completely invited me in.

He has made Himself the object of my sight,
flooding me with mercies in the morning,
drowning me with Grace in the night,
but if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them.

But what I do have is GOOD NEWS!
For my God knew that man-made words would never do,
for words are just tools that we use to point to the truth.

So He sent His Son Jesus Christ as The Word,
Living Proof,
He is The Image of the Invisible God,

The first born of all creation,
for by Him all things were created,
Giving nothingness, formation.

And by His word,
He sustains in the power of His name.
For He is before all things,
and above all things he reigns.
Holy is His name!

So praise Him for His life!
The way He persevered in strife.
The humble son of god becoming the perfect sacrifice.

Praise Him for His death!
That He willingly stood in our place
that He lovingly endured the grave
that He battled our enemy, and on the third day rose in victory.

He is everything that was promised.

Praise Him as the risen king.
Lift your voice and sing,
for one day He will return for us,
and we will finally be united with our savior for eternity! Eternity!

So it is not just words that I proclaim,
for my words point to the word,
and the word has a name,
hope has a name,
joy has a name,
peace has a name,
love has a name,
and that name is Jesus Christ!

Praise His name forever!”

Hearing the voice of God

Folks, are you aware of radio stations which broadcast the Gospel, or music or conversation all day long? Can you hear them without a radio receiver tuned to the correct frequency? Absolutely not. Similarly beloved, hearing the voice of God requires you to be tuned into the frequency of God using a receiver --- the Word of God, The Bible and the Holy Spirit. So what are you doing to listen to the voice of God? Have you accepted Jesus and been Baptized so the Holy Spirit comes to live within you? Are you constantly in the Word and Praying in the Spirit? If not, your radio receiver is not tuned to the frequency that God is broadcasting his messages to you. To listen to the voice of God you must Read the Word and meditate on it, pray regularly and acknowledge Jesus and ask that the Holy Spirit come upon you and live within you. Pray that the Holy Spirit come make His residence within you. Pray with all sincerity and have ears to listen to the voice of God.

The next section is taken from a devotion by Charles Stanley and all copyrights for this work belong to him:

Listening with Ears to Hear

All of these aspects of active listening are ways in which we truly have “ears to hear.” Jesus said repeatedly to His disciples, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (See Matt. 11:15; 13:9, 43.)
Active listening requires that you make these declarations in the inner spirit by faith as you listen to God:
1. I’m eager to hear what You are going to say to me (expectant).
2. I’m listening, Lord (quiet).
3. I’ll wait until I hear from You (patient).
4. I’m confident that You are going to tell me what I need to hear (confident).
5. I depend upon You completely to tell me who I am to become, what I am to say, and what I am to do (dependent).
6. I want to be open to all possibilities, Lord (open).
7. I am listening keenly to every word (attentive).
8. I am trusting You, Holy Spirit, to confirm to me that what I am hearing is, indeed, from God (careful).
9. Not my will or way, but Yours, Lord (submissive).
10. I am in awe and thanksgiving that You would speak to me, Lord (reverent).
When you truly listen actively, you can expect to hear from God in ways that compel you to action!

Integrity

Integrity MUST ALWAYS be one of your top concerns as a Christian. I have written about related topics in the past but I am writing about this today because it is so important to obey in the Christian life. If you do not have integrity in your dealings with others, your Christian witness will become useless. Even though I wasn't a Christian my entire life, I am proud to say that I have lived my entire life with absolute and complete integrity.

Pastor’s Creed
Pastors, live your life according to a very strict Pastor’s Creed which has stood me well over the course of time. These are the Biblical aspects of the Pastor’s Creed given by the Apostle Paul to Titus in Titus 1:5-9:

"An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless -- not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it." [Titus 1:5-9]

In Apostle Paul’s day and age, the reference to being the husband of one wife was meant to discourage polygamy which was common among the Pagan and Roman cultures of the day. In today’s day and age it is not generally applied to keep those capable Pastors out of the pulpit who are divorced or widowers who choose to re-marry, but it is meant as a refrain that all Pastors and elders are to refrain from polygamy, from adultery, from fornication or from sexual sin or immorality of any kind. “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” [1 Peter 1:15-16]

To give you an example, I follow a very well defined Moral Creed:

1. I do not, and have never done illegal drugs.
2. I do not. and have never smoked. (I am not judging or disparaging anyone who does.)
3. I partake of alcohol very sparingly, on a few special occasions throughout the year. (I am not judging or disparaging anyone who likes to drink on a regular basis)
4. I do not, and have never stolen anything. I may have borrowed something and returned it later, but have never actually stolen from anyone.
5. I do not, and have never used prostitutes, or had one night stands.
6. I do not watch pornography or visit houses of commercial adult sexual entertainment.
7. I do not gamble. I confess to occasionally buying a lottery ticket when the prize money gets into the hundreds of millions of dollars. However, I have never counted on any lottery gains for my livelihood. I figure if God chose to Bless me with abundance, he could use the lottery to do so. I have thus far only been disappointed though as I have never won any significant amount of money from the lottery. :-(
8. I try my very best not to lie. (wait, do white lies count? Just kidding)
9. I make every effort to try not to gossip.
10. I make every effort to try not to curse or use swear words.
11. I make every effort to follow the law of the land, but where the law of the land and the law of God conflict, (example, abortion) I follow the law of the God of the Bible.
12. My brothers and sisters in Christ are my family and my loyalty to them and to the Church of Christ supersede my loyalty to my own biological or adoptive family and friends.
13. I never miss weekly Church Service, in-person or online unless I am very ill or in the hospital. Since 2007 I have missed weekly Church services only once due to illness.
14. I always partake of the Holy Communion when offered.
15. I pray on my knees daily to My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who bled and died on the Cross for our sins at Calvary 2000 years ago.
16. I tithe a very good amount of my annual take home pay to the various Churches I attended.
17.  I remain completely faithful to my sweetheart who I love and adore.

When evil continues unabated

8/3/2022

So, what happens when evil continues despite your best efforts? When the exclusionary practices of the high and mighty continue unabated. When evil seems to be winning every battle and God seems powerless or completely absent from our situation? This is when we need to pray even harder...and remain in constant prayer. The Apostle Paul put it this way..."Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thesalonians 5:16-18. When your attitude is one of submission and prayer, God moves mountains to rectify the injustices and injuries.

Remember that this life is not our permanent home. It will be over in the blink of an eye. We as believers are just passing through it. We have an eternal home with Jesus Christ our Lord in Heaven. So when people wrong you, exclude you, and push you aside as trash, remember the beatitudes, and forgive them. Remember that the persecution in this life will not carry over to the next life, and while you may have eternal life in heaven, they will likely die miserably in their unbelief.
