Gratitude

Gratitude is a verb --- and the act of gratitude when directed towards God is a form of worship. This habbit and flow of gratitude from the heart on a daily basis for the smallest of Blessings in our lives becomes our prayer and praise of God for all of his passive gifts to us, including the ability to breathe, the ability to smile and the ability to walk, and so many other things we take for granted on a daily basis. To count our Blessings and to be grateful for each one takes a certain amount of humility, life experience and maturity. To understand these gifts it sometimes takes getting clubbed on the head with the experience of not having one of these abilities for a certain period of time --- an experience none of us wants to have, but sometimes must have in order to grow closer to God. If we thank God when we have everything, perhaps that time of testing will never come. Regardless, a posture of gratitude and humility must be our stance on a daily basis, for our God is a loving, gracious and Giving God.
