One of the things we realize as we mature in Christ as believers is that there are a lot of things not under our control in this world. Indeed we are surrounded by people, situations and environments over which we have absolutely no control. For those of us who are used to gripping onto control very tightly, a word of advise...let go and let God, or you will go completely insane trying to minutely control every little thing which happens to you or which you are subjected to in this life. God knows your heart. He know that you love him. He knows that Jesus is your Lord and Savior. He knows every situation and He is in control of every situation. So relax, let go and let God.
Now, this is easier said than done, especially for the "Type A" personalities among us. The Corporate world teaches us, indeed the fundamentals of every management class tell us that the 4 fundamental functions of every manager are POLC (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling) and while controlling might be essential in the Corporate world, there is a manager who sits higher than every CEO in the world, and His name is Jesus. He is richer than any CEO in the world, and his dominion and control is the entire world. So worry not believer, control is not something we should be afraid to give to Him. "Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “Ye of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 14:25-32. Beloved, He who walks on water has your back. When we choose to relinquish control to Him who controls all things, He takes all our worries and makes it His own.
When it comes to our needs, Jesus puts it best, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own." Luke 12:22-31
The Apostle Paul puts it this way "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6 So as we have already discussed in a previous message, prayer begins with Thanksgiving, and ends with our requests to God not only for our needs but also for the needs of others, and "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:14-21
