The Scripture on Anger

Today's Christian lesson has to do with what not to do. Over the weekend I got really angry about something (which usually never happens) which was beyond my control. I became upset because a minimum wage blue-collar worker at a hotel chain gave me wrong information. I got upset and frustrated. This was not the first but the fourth time in as many weeks that a retail employee had treated me badly. Rarely a week passes when I am not treated badly by someone, somewhere. What happened to me was beyond my control but how I reacted to it was definitely within my control.
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1
It is very much within our control how we react to situations. “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." Ephesians 4:26-31
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." James 1:19-20
"A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel." Proverbs 15:18
"But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips." Colossians 3:8
"Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly." Proverbs 14:29
Was I wronged? Yes. Am I wronged and treated badly almost every day? Yes. Just today Fedex declared that I received my shiny new iPhone 12 Pro from AT&T, except my phone is nowhere to be found....! Am I tempted to get upset and angry? Absolutely. Will I? No, it's not worth it.
